Alkabez (c. 1505-1584) is best known for his Sabbath hymn Lekhah Dodi, but he also wrote kabbalistic commentaries on the Bible. Alkabez was a kabbalist of the school of Safed, where he arrived in 1535. Moses Cordovero, his brother-in-law, who married Alkabez' sister, is his best-known disciple. The present work is a philosophical/ kabbalistic comment on the Song of Songs.
