Sydrach. [La fontaine de toutes sciences].
Manuscript, Paris?, ca.1350-70 (BPH 116)

Embedded in a story about two rival kings, the main part of this text consists of a game of questions and answers between the one king and Sidrach, counsellor/astrologer to the other. A veritable encyclopedia of medieval knowledge and wisdom is here displayed, beginning with theology. In spite of the Eastern setting it is an original 13th-century French story.

Alternating arms of France and Navarre on the first page, which might indicate a provenance of Jeanne de Navarre (he died in 1373).
