First edition of (part of) the Bible in Dutch and the first book printed in Delft. Copies of the translated Bible had already circulated in manuscript in the early 14th century, possibly reflecting the importance attached to translations of the Bible into the vernacular by members of the Devotio Moderna movement in the Low Countries. Among the former owners were the Beguines of Amsterdam and the Poor Clares of Amsterdam. |
