First edition of this work in which the heliocentric system is presented. Underneath the woodcut which for the first time depicts this system, Copernicus mentions Hermes Trismegistus, who is quoted as one of the oldest authorities because he had already placed the sun as the ‘visible God’ in the centre (a free adaptation of a passage from the Asclepius).
