Giordano Bruno, De l'infinito universo et mondi.
'Venice' [= London, John Charlewood], 1584

First edition. Bruno’s propositions concerning the infinite universe and worlds, which in part derive from Lucretius, proved fatal for him. His elaborations on the infiniteness of the universe had theological consequences: in an infinite universe with infinite worlds moved by an infinite God a number of Christian doctrines, such as the creation of one earth, and the redemption (for this world only) were debatable. Bruno was burnt in Rome in 1600 for his heretical views.
