Visiting the library - How to find the library
Please
note: The visiting address of the library differs from the postal
address. The library is located on Bloemstraat 13-19, a side street off
the Prinsengracht at the intersection of Prinsengracht and Rozengracht.
We are easily reached via public transport from Amsterdam Central Station:
tram lines 13 and 17 stop at Westermarkt, where you cross the bridge over
the Prinsengracht and turn right: Bloemstraat is the first street on your
left. The entrance is at Bloemstraat 15.
The library in the Bloemstraat houses on open shelves the general reference section, modern editions of works (post-1800 material) and secondary sources. Books printed before 1800 and manuscripts will be fetched for readers wishing to consult them. As some of the older material may be temporarily unavailable it is advisable to consult with the staff in advance about availability of pre-1800 manuscript or printed material.
Facilities:
two reading areas (20 seats); online catalogue in the main reading room;
photocopier. No library loan.
Opening hours: Monday through Friday 9:30-12:30 and 13:30-17:00.
